Engine Test Cell Technician:
The Engine Test Cell Technician will be responsible for the operation, maintenance and system upgrades of the engine test cell including:
  • Operation of the engine test bed following a specified test plan
  • Routine maintenance of the test cell (oil changes, fuel fill, etc.)
  • Removal and installation of engines on the test bed
  • Overseeing safe operation of the engine while on the test bed
  • Mechanical adjustments or alterations to the engine while in the test cell
  • Diagnosing mechanical problems and determine how to correct them using equipment manuals, parts catalogs or drawings as necessary
  • Accurate data recording of engine test parameters
  • Calibration of test cell measurement equipment
  • Instrumentation hardware and software configuration in the test cell
  • Post processing of test data
  • Specification and ordering of parts from suppliers/catalogs and purchase through internal purchase order system
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or foreign educational equivalent
  • Demonstrated self-starter with strong interpersonal, organizational and technical skills. Able to work both independently and in a team environment.
  • Proficiency with hand tools used in engine maintenance
  • Understanding of mechanical measurement devices and their use
  • Proficiency with basic Microsoft software products (Excel, Word, etc.)
  • Willing to work flexible hours or off shifts as necessary
Desirable Skills:
  • Technical or trade school degree in engine repair or testing
  • Experience with any 2D or 3D CAD design software a plus.
  • Fabrication and welding experience
  • Understanding of basic electronic circuits, instrumentation (thermocouples, pressure transducers etc) or a willingness to pursue further education on the subject
  • Experience with engine or mechanical system repair or alteration
  • Experience with engine or test cell data acquisition systems
  • Programming experience with LabView software
  • Experience wiring electrical systems, such as instrumentation power supplies, VFDs and motors
